Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has opened the tender process for the design and construction of the Al Kheesa Foul Sewage Packages 1 & 2 in the Al Wajba area, a key project aimed at improving sewage infrastructure in the rapidly developing region.

The tender, which was issued on October 9, 2024, seeks bids from qualified contractors to address gaps in the existing foul sewage system in Al Wajba.

The project is part of Qatar’s broader infrastructure development efforts, especially as the country continues to experience significant urban growth and rising demand for efficient wastewater management systems.

According to sources familiar with the project, Ashghal is looking to award the contract by early March 2025, with the target for completing the work set for the third quarter of 2026. This timeline highlights Qatar’s commitment to fast-tracking essential infrastructure projects in line with its national development plans.

Interested bidders have until November 10, 2024, to submit their proposals. The tender represents a major opportunity for local and international contractors to contribute to one of Qatar’s key infrastructure initiatives, which aims to enhance the quality of life for residents by providing modern and reliable sewage solutions.

The Al Wajba area has been the focus of numerous infrastructure upgrades, including roads, utilities, and now sewage systems, as part of Qatar’s vision to modernize its urban infrastructure and accommodate its growing population.

Ashghal is playing a central role in executing Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which stresses environmental sustainability, improved urban planning, and the creation of a modern infrastructure framework.
