Pearl Group partners with TotalEnergies for major solar power project in UAE

The move is a major step for Pearl Group, which has publicly committed to enhancing sustainability practices across its operations.

Pearl Group has launched a solar project with TotalEnergies to power three of its UAE production sites, a project aimed at lowering the environmental footprint of its industrial operations.

Pearl, a global player in polyurethane insulation, has installed 1,653 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels at its sites in Dubai Investments Park (DIP) and Ras Al Khor.

The panels will generate a projected 1,336 megawatt-hours of electricity each year, contributing to a reduction of approximately 568 tons in CO₂ emissions annually.

The move is a major step for Pearl Group, which has publicly committed to enhancing sustainability practices across its operations.

“The installation of solar power systems across our Dubai sites is a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability,” said Pearl CEO Martin Kruczinna. He added that the partnership with TotalEnergies aligns with Pearl’s long-term vision to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and advance renewable energy.

The installation spans three key sites. At DIP South, the solar capacity reaches 372 kWp, while DIP North provides 359 kWp. The Ras Al Khor facility, meanwhile, has a capacity of 90 kWp.

Together, the installations are expected to not only meet a substantial portion of the facilities’ energy needs but also contribute excess power to the local grid, supporting broader community sustainability goals.

For TotalEnergies, the project highlights its growing role in providing distributed renewable energy solutions to industries in the Middle East and beyond.

Hamady SY, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation for the Middle East and Africa, noted, “This partnership with Pearl demonstrates our commitment to helping industries across the region adopt clean energy solutions. We aim to facilitate businesses in reducing their carbon footprint and advancing their sustainability agendas.”

The collaboration aligns with the UAE’s ongoing efforts to accelerate clean energy adoption across sectors, reinforcing its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Pearl’s solar initiative reflects the larger shift among private sector entities in the region toward greener practices and investments.

Pearl Group has been expanding its renewable energy footprint as it looks to reduce costs and lower emissions across its global operations. This partnership represents a key element of Pearl’s broader sustainability strategy and demonstrates how industrial firms in the Middle East are increasingly integrating solar energy to power daily operations.

Beyond financial savings, which Pearl Group anticipates through lower electricity costs, the environmental impact aligns with both local and international goals for carbon reduction. The UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050 targets a mix of clean energy sources, aiming to raise the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix to 50% by mid-century. This installation supports those targets and sets a benchmark for similar projects in the region’s industrial sector.

The recent project also strengthens TotalEnergies’ presence in the renewables sector in the UAE, where the company is already involved in several other renewable energy projects, including large-scale solar farms and distributed solar installations.

TotalEnergies, traditionally known for its oil and gas operations, has been increasing investments in renewables, supporting the energy transition as part of its broader commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
