Metito announces strategic restructuring with core business spinoffs

The company will spin off its core business lines into three independent entities

Metito, a global leader in intelligent water management solutions, has announced a major restructuring initiative aimed at accelerating growth and streamlining operations.

The company will spin off its core business lines into three independent entities: Metito Utilities, Metipro, and Metichem, in a move designed to enhance focus, innovation, and profitability across its specialised sectors.

Group Chairman Mutaz Ghandour described the restructuring as a major milestone in the company’s 66-year history. “This marks a transformative chapter in our journey. Our unwavering commitment to tackling water scarcity and advancing innovative solutions for the communities we serve remains at the heart of this strategic shift,” Ghandour said.

Three Pillars of Growth

  1. Metito Utilities
This division, historically operating as an independent group company, will continue its focus on the investment, development, and long-term operation and maintenance of water and wastewater concessions globally.
  2. Metito Water Projects (Metipro)
Metipro will specialize in delivering high-value engineering, design, and build solutions tailored to infrastructure development and urban water needs.
  3. Metito Chemical Solutions (Metichem)
Metichem will maintain its leadership in advanced water treatment chemicals, operational and maintenance services, and customer-engineered packages.

Strategic focus

The reorganization will enable each entity to pursue targeted growth strategies while leveraging Metito’s decades of expertise in the water and wastewater sector. The company noted that the restructuring aligns with its broader ambition to address global water challenges more effectively through specialised, autonomous units.

“This strategic realignment ensures each business line can harness its core strengths while drawing on Metito’s extensive experience in delivering sustainable water solutions,” said Ghandour.

Metito is widely recognised for its flagship projects, including the Al Mahsamma Plant in Egypt, the second-largest facility of its kind worldwide. The company’s restructuring signals a renewed focus on innovation and operational excellence as it addresses water scarcity challenges and supports the sustainable development of communities across the globe.

The move comes amid a growing demand for specialised water management solutions, driven by rapid urbanisation, climate change, and heightened global awareness of water security issues.
