Peter Terium, Chief Executive Officer of ENOWA, has been named Chairman of the newly formed Zero Emissions Traders Alliance (ZETA).
The alliance, founded in 2023 by energy leaders Paul van Son and Jan Haizmann, aims to unite stakeholders in energy commodity markets to accelerate the transition to low, zero, and even sub-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
ZETA’s primary focus is initially centered on clean energy trading in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with plans for global expansion.
Terium’s selection to chair the advisory board was announced at ZETA’s inaugural meeting in Vienna, where he met with 10 early-mover companies involved in the alliance.
Known for his leadership at ENOWA, a key player in Saudi Arabia’s NEOM project, Terium brings deep expertise in renewable energy, sustainable systems, and energy market transformation.
Terium, who is leading NEOM’s ambitious project to build a 100% renewable energy, sustainable water, and food system in Saudi Arabia, highlighted the importance of preparing the markets for climate neutrality while maintaining high standards of security of supply and affordability.
In this context, ZETA and public stakeholders are discussing the possibilities for a clean energy hub in the MENA region.
The gathering also saw the first session of ZETA’s ‘Standardization Working Group,’ where participants explored the development of standardised contracts for hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives, key steps in driving clean energy adoption and trading across global markets.
