Riyadh Cement, SEC sign deal to advance Liquid Fuel Displacement project

The project, part of Saudi Arabia's Liquid Fuel Substitution Program, aims to provide the plant with a 92.2 MVA electricity load capacity, reducing reliance on liquid fuels.

Riyadh Cement Company has signed an agreement with the National Electricity Transmission Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), to construct an electricity transmission station for its plant in the Nisah district.

The project, part of Saudi Arabia’s Liquid Fuel Substitution Program, aims to provide the plant with a 92.2 MVA electricity load capacity, reducing reliance on liquid fuels. Under the agreement, the project is set for completion by December 31, 2025, or earlier upon achieving the required objectives.

The initiative aligns with broader efforts by Saudi Arabia’s energy and industrial sectors to reduce liquid fuel use, improve energy efficiency, and support environmental goals. The project is expected to significantly cut emissions from Riyadh Cement’s electricity generation operations while enhancing the reliability of the country’s electrical grid.

Riyadh Cement confirmed that the project would not have a material financial impact on its operations, further bolstering its alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives for sustainable industrial growth.
