The UAE’s Emarat EV Charging Stations Company (UAEV) has signed a strategic agreement with automotive group AW Rostamani to expand access to charging stations for electric vehicles, particularly for customers purchasing Zeekr and smart EVs.
The deal, announced at the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS 2025) in Abu Dhabi, will see AW Rostamani offer complimentary charging credits to new buyers of its exclusive EV brands, redeemable across UAEV’s nationwide charging network via a dedicated app.
The initiative aims to encourage wider EV adoption by easing a key consumer concern: charging accessibility.
The partnership brings together the public and private sectors in a move aligned with the UAE’s broader Net Zero 2050 Strategy and its National Electric Vehicles Policy, which targets a 40% improvement in transport energy efficiency.
With transportation accounting for a significant portion of the nation’s carbon emissions, electrification has become a cornerstone of the country’s decarbonisation strategy.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to make EV adoption easier, more rewarding, and truly accessible for everyone in the UAE,” said Hicham Ezzahid, CEO of UAEV, which was launched in 2024 as a joint venture between the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Etihad Water and Electricity.
Sanaa Ouahmane, CEO of Mobility Services at AW Rostamani, framed the deal as more than a commercial alliance. “This is a strategic partnership that puts customer education, accessibility, and sustainability at the forefront. We are enabling a new standard for how people move,” she said.
The collaboration is expected to support the elimination of range anxiety and charging limitations—two of the biggest hurdles facing the country’s EV sector.
UAEV currently operates 122 public charging ports, including high-speed DC chargers, with plans to scale that figure to 300 by the end of the year. It aims to install over 1,000 ultra-fast chargers by 2030.
The initiative will help establish a more robust charging ecosystem to support the influx of EVs expected in the UAE’s market over the next decade. In particular, it will benefit buyers of Zeekr and smart vehicles, both marketed and serviced exclusively by AW Rostamani in the UAE.
The charging credit programme is set to roll out in the coming months. Users will be required to download the UAEV app to redeem their credits, giving them access to the fastest-growing EV network in the Northern Emirates and beyond.
