The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) to advance district cooling services across the northern emirates, a major step towards enhancing sustainability and energy efficiency in the country.
The agreement, signed by His Excellency Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, and Empower CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar at Empower’s Dubai headquarters, seeks to foster collaboration in delivering environmentally friendly district cooling solutions.
The move aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy and its sustainability goals, as highlighted during COP28.
Under the MoU, both parties will conduct technical and economic feasibility studies to expand district cooling systems in underserved regions, aiming to improve quality of life while supporting national climate goals.
Empower’s CEO said that the company’s unique business model contributes to energy conservation and environmental protection in Dubai and beyond.
The partnership underscores the UAE’s leadership in adopting advanced industries and transitioning to clean energy solutions, boosting the country’s commitment to sustainable urban development and resource efficiency.
